National Resource Centre for Oral Health and Tobacco Cessation established in Delhi

The Delhi government has set up a National Resource Centre for Oral Health and Tobacco Cessation in the metropolis to fight tobacco addiction. On Tuesday, state health minister Mr. Satyendar Jain opened the centre, which the administration claims is the first of its kind in the country. It was founded at the Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences (MAIDS) to raise awareness about the dangers of cigarettes and drugs, improve dentist training, and conduct dental health research. According to the government, this is the first national resource centre among the country′s 315 dentistry colleges.

MAIDS’ director Dr Sangeeta Talwar stated that the centre would actively participate in and carry out training of dental health professionals in patient care, research, and tobacco cessation. (ETHealthworld, May 25, 2022)
